Warm wishes to Susan Smith as she steps down from the PA Chapter Board
On behalf of the Board and staff of the PA/NJ Chapter of The American Chestnut Foundation we want to thank Susan Smith for her long service and dedication to our restoration mission.
A member since 1999, Susan has been an active volunteer, establishing an American chestnut orchard in 2002 and joining the board in 2011. Until last year, Susan had been the Director of a residential summer youth program on her organic farm Longacre in Perry County. For over 4 decades the Longacre Leadership Program hosted 72 teenagers each summer. Having recently sold the farm and the program to her son Matt, Susan and her husband Roger made the decision to simplify their lives further by making their permanent home in Cape Cod.
Words of thanks seem inadequate for all that Susan has meant to our organization. She has been a huge support to the Board and staff and she will be missed.
To this couple that has given so much to our organization and their community we wish all the best. And we hope they will stay in touch.
