New on the Ballot
Mike Aucott retired from his position as a research scien-tist for the NJ Dept. of Envi-ronmental Protection in 2012. He has a Ph.D. in envi-ronmental science from Rut-gers University, and now teaches chemistry part-time at The College of New Jersey. He is also a consultant on en-ergy and air pollution issues. Mike joined PA/NJ-TACF in 2011. He has recently helped analyze small stem assay data for TACF. Mike has organized plantings of over 200 Ameri-can chestnuts in Hopewell Township, NJ, with the hope that some of these may be useful in future breeding efforts. He and Louise are participating in the PA Chest-nut Timber Tree Program (formerly F123) and have an orchard of some 800 F2 hy-brid chestnuts at their farm in Potter County, PA. Mike has been hooked on chestnuts since 5th grade, when a leaf from a stump sprout became the prize of his leaf collection.
Lake Graboski has been an active volunteer and member of the PA Chapter since 2015. He has worked in all facets of our research and outreach efforts here at Penn State and has worked extensively on the Carbaugh orchards. He has an M.S. in Ecology from Penn State, having done re-search projects in partnership with PA DCNR, Penn State, and TACF. He enjoys the hunt for native chestnuts in the wild, especially when he finds them. He will bring experi-ence and enthusiasm to our Board.
